I’ve worked in the service industry for over 20 years, starting as a server and eventually owning my own bar for more than 15 of those years. Along the way, I gained firsthand experience in every role—from team member to leader—and quickly learned that success in this industry depends on having a great team.
As a business owner, I wore many hats. Some I enjoyed—like jumping in as a cook or fixing things around the bar. Others I dreaded (plumbing, anyone?). But the role I unexpectedly fell in love with was bookkeeping and tax preparation.
